FAQ
Common questions about SAP integration, multi-language support, data residency, certifications, and pilot pricing.
DCS and plant integration
Does Capped AI replace our DCS?
No. Capped AI sits beside your existing DCS as a read-only observer. It connects via OPC-UA to pull trends, alarm logs, and historian data. It cannot write to or actuate the DCS under any circumstance.
Can the appliance operate offline — without internet access?
Yes. The appliance is fully air-gapped by design. All AI inference runs on-site (Qwen 2.5 72B in vLLM). The only outbound connection is an aggregate telemetry heartbeat to Capped AI Ops Cloud — containing metrics only, no customer data. This can be disabled entirely on request (fully air-gapped mode).
Which DCS vendors do you support?
Any historian that exposes an OPC-UA server. Tested integrations: Honeywell Experion, AVEVA PI / System Platform, AspenTech Aspen InfoPlus.21, Yokogawa Exaquantum, and Emerson DeltaV. Custom OPC-UA adapters are available for other historians.
Which IT team resources does the integration require?
Approximately 4 hours of IT time on installation day: confirm rack space and power, configure one network port with a static IP, add three firewall rules (OPC-UA read to DCS, HTTPS from tablets, HTTPS heartbeat outbound). A Capped AI field engineer handles everything else.
Multi-language and localization
How good is the Arabic language support?
Capped AI supports Modern Standard Arabic and English natively. For sector-specific terminology or invoice formats in Arabic, we offer fine-tuning as part of the Enterprise plan using your historical invoice data.
Does Capped AI support right-to-left layout?
Yes. The operator tablet interface renders RTL for Arabic and LTR for English. Mixed-language handovers (common in bilingual plants) are handled with per-section language toggles.
Appliance and hardware
What hardware does the appliance run on?
A standard 1U server (Supermicro or equivalent) with 2× NVIDIA H100 80GB GPUs, 256 GB RAM, and 8 TB NVMe RAID-1. We ship, rack, and configure the appliance. Typical on-site installation time: 1 day.
Who manages the appliance after installation?
Capped AI provides remote monitoring and model updates via an encrypted management channel (outbound-only from appliance to Capped AI Ops Cloud). Your IT team retains physical and network-layer control. Software updates are signed and delivered on your approval schedule.
What happens if the appliance fails during a shift?
A hardware fault triggers an immediate alert to your IT contact and to Capped AI on-call. Capped AI ships a replacement component within 5 business days (Standard) or 48 hours (Enterprise). During downtime, operators revert to manual handover — the WORM log is preserved on the RAID-1 mirror and recoverable once the appliance is restored.
Compliance and certifications
What certifications does Capped AI carry?
ISO 27001 is targeted for Year 1. SOC 2 Type II for Year 2. IEC 62443-4-1 (industrial cybersecurity) is on the Year 2–3 roadmap. We provide a pre-certification security controls package for early customers to satisfy internal procurement requirements.
What happens if an operator forgets to sign the handover?
Handovers without a digital signature are flagged as 'pending' and cannot be archived. The outgoing shift supervisor receives a tablet alert. Unsigned handovers from the previous 30 days are visible to plant managers in the admin dashboard.
Pricing and pilot
How much does the pilot cost and is it credited toward the annual license?
The pilot is an 8-week engagement at $25,000. This covers appliance shipping, installation, integration with one process unit, and operator training. The full $25K is credited toward your Year 1 annual license if you proceed.
Can we negotiate the pilot scope?
Yes. The standard pilot covers one process unit and one shift team. We can extend to two units or add a second shift team for an additional $8,000. Multi-plant pilots are scoped separately. Contact hello@capped.ai to discuss.
